Business
Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (NYSE: FIX) is a leading provider of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contracting services for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers across the United States. The company offers comprehensive construction services for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing, process piping, and electrical installations; modular off-site construction solutions including HVAC modules, electrical systems, modular data centers, and turbine enclosures; building services encompassing property asset maintenance, upgrades, modifications, 24/7 proactive response, and retrofit projects; and building automation services providing turnkey life safety systems, remote monitoring, controls operation, repair, and maintenance. Incorporated in Delaware in 1994 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Comfort Systems USA went public in June 1997 through the consolidation of 12 operating companies and has since expanded to more than 45 subsidiaries operating from over 170 locations nationwide. In recent developments, the company completed five acquisitions in 2025 to broaden its electrical segment and deepen exposure to technology and industrial end-markets, enhancing visibility into multi-year projects. Earlier expansions included the 2024 acquisition of Summit Industrial Hydroponics for modular construction capabilities and the 2024 purchase of J & S Mechanical Contractors in Utah, alongside a new $1.1 billion credit facility with extended maturity to support growth. Comfort Systems USA continues to invest in modular capacity expansion toward nearly 3 million square feet by early 2026, driven by strong demand in data centers and advanced manufacturing, contributing to a record backlog of $9.38 billion as of September 30, 2025. These strategic moves reflect ongoing diversification in high-growth sectors such as technology infrastructure and public works supported by federal and state initiatives.
